Published on

Even if you are not into sports, you must have heard Mohammad Ali or Mike Tyson, who are boxers in the profession. But there is a strong chance that you don't know any Jujutsu player's name. This reality gives us hints, Boxing is more popular as professional sports than Jujutsu. But what about when we consider their traits and functions as extreme sports? Which one is more effective in a real-life street fight? This question deserves to be thought of and answered.

Boxing and Jujutsu both are extreme sports, characterized by high risk and bold action like other extreme sports such as mountain biking or skateboarding. Though both are based on martial art, there are significant differences between them.

Because of the different techniques Boxing and Jujutsu apply to hit and self-defense, it is believed that Boxing is more effective in the street fight than Jujutsu, at least for the amateurs. The main focus of Boxing is to punch your opponent while Jujutsu's primary focus is striking and grappling. Just think about a fight scene. Would you like to go to the ground when fighting in real life, which Jujutsu always demands? The answer is most probably no. You would like to break your enemies' faces being on your feet. Besides, before going to the ground, there is a chance that the fight will be interfered with and terminated.

Learning Jujutsu is more complicated than Boxing as well. For instance, for self-defense in Boxing, you need to have good head movement, but in Jujutsu push kick, Double-leg takedown, arm-drag, and wall push escape are the main techniques to save you.

But Jujutsu has advantages also. If you get involved in a severe fight where the opponent is skilled and powerful, he can take you to the ground. In such circumstances, if you know Jujutsu, it will tremendously help you to defeat him and help you to stand up again. Besides, Jujutsu is more effective for one to one fight than Boxing.

In a nutshell, both Boxing and Jujutsu has pros and cons as extreme sports in street fighting. But Boxing seems to be better for the beginners in most of the situations. And if you are a boxer with Jujutsu skill, be confirm, none going to be won over you on the street fight.
